Purpose of this App: The main purpose of ATLAS II is to examine amethodology for performing Travel Surveys using GPS-enabledsmartphones. With installing this application on your smartphone,you will help us to improve the quality of "travel surveys", whichprovides researchers and practitioners with the detailed travelbehaviour data required for more accurate transportation planningand management. Participation and withdrawal: Installing this appand participation in travel surveys are completely voluntary, andyou are free to withdraw from the study at any time withoutprejudice or penalty. If you wish to withdraw, simply stopcompleting the exercise and uninstall the app. If you do withdrawfrom the study, only the materials that you have uploaded to thatpoint will be included in the study. You have the option to deleteany day of your trips before uploading it to the ATLAS II server.You always have the option to delete your travel records or to keepthem for your own purpose only. What this application does: ATLASII records the travel behaviour of participants using the GPStracking facilities on the device. The travel route for a giventrip is recorded by storing the positions visited and thecorresponding time. Collected data are recorded on the device andonly when a participant clicks the upload button, these data aresent to a server. ATLAS II is designed to work in the backgroundand does not interfere with other applications on your smartphone.As a study participant, you will not be involved in any physical ormental discomfort and no risks beyond those of everyday living.However, if you find any question or procedure to be invasive oroffensive, simply stop completing the exercises and uninstall theapp. Confidentiality and security of data: All collected data inthis exercise are encoded to protect those details that might beconsidered as confidential. Moreover, all recorded travelattributes are de-identified and stored confidentially in aseparate database. Only the members of the research team haveaccess to these data. Please note that continued use of GPS runningin the background can dramatically use your smartphone's power.
