Important notice: This is beta version of the Philosophy Navigatorapplication. The Philosophy Navigator is a mobile app, whichdelivers to its mobile user, location-based information about anumber of points of interest located in Athens, Greece, focusing onthe 'unknown' Plato's Academy and its region. The user can getinformation in about historical and modern day locations, intextual and multimedia form (pictures, videos, voice). Routes whichguide the visitor around Athens to locate significant locationswith a link to Plato’s Academy and identification of those inproximity of the user are provided by the app. The informationprovided is available in 7 languages that can be selected by theuser. The Philosophy Navigator is developed by the National andKapodistrian University of Athens, in the context of the "Academyof Plato - Paths to Knowledge" project, in partnership with theFoundation of the Hellenic World, which performs the selection andediting of the content and routes, as well as translation andclearance of content rights. The application can operate with orwithout internet connection. In the presence of internetconnection, the application can take advantage of Google Maps inorder to present its information graphically and also exploitGoogle’s navigation services. Upon installation, it is highlyrecommended to use the application in order to prefetch the contenton the local device, so that you can avoid delays and massive datatransfer while on mobile data network. The application is providedfree of charge. The content provided / presented can be used onlyin the context of the current application. Charges may apply uponnetwork usage by your carrier(s). The Philosophy Navigator has beenco-funded by the European Union (European Social Fund) and nationalresources within the framework of the project "Plato Academy - TheSociety and the Citizen" of the Operational Program "Education andLifelong Learning".
