An app that will help you discover the hidden history of leadmining in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Lead mining was once big business in the Yorkshire Dales andeverywhere you go you will eventually spot a ruined smelt mill,spoil heaps or mine entrances. This free app is designed to helpyou safely explore some of these fascinating sites and find outmore about the industry and the people who worked in it. You willfind short descriptions, location information and photos for 18 keylead mining sites, plus seven walking routes all plotted ontoOrdnance Survey mapping. There are also two audio trails; links toa video tour; panoramas; accessibility tips and lots of usefulvisitor information such as places to eat; accommodation links;public toilets and car parks. A separate section contains some funstuff for kids to do while you are out and about exploring. Finallywe have included a lead mine ghost story and information on arecent art and poetry project based on Grassington Moor.
