The “Orkiestrownik” orchestra guide is aninnovative guide to classical music in the form of a free mobileapplication. A step-by-step introduction to the world of theorchestra, the application shows its instruments, musicians, theconductor, a rehearsal and a concert. The bulk of the guide isformed by the “Virtual orchestra” section, whose core is composedof a multi-channel recording of Maurice Ravel’s Bolero—a ravishingand popular piece which allows each orchestra instrument a momentin the spotlight. The application enables users to follow thecomposition bar by bar, either as a dynamic score or a graphiclayout and a shining map of instruments. One may simultaneouslywatch the orchestra perform and follow the work of its conductor. Asingle click allows users to listen to a selected instrument andsee how it is played by musicians. Or find out how long they waitfor their big moment…

Each instrument of the modern symphony orchestra is featured infilms and texts. The application contains 25 showcases, from theviolin through the trumpet, the harp, and the snare drum.“Orkiestrownik” also features musicians of the exquisite SinfoniaVarsovia who talk about their work, passion, and the pros and consof an artistic career.

The application also includes bookmarks covering the conductor, arehearsal and a concert. Users are guided by the irreplaceable,colorful and dynamic maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk, who explains the roleof the conductor, the reasons behind rehearsals, and the structureof the orchestra. Also featured in the application is a funny filmabout philharmonic hall etiquette, a quiz with prizes, and alibrary of recordings which encourages users to listen tocompositions by Beethoven, Bartók and Dębski.
