Each player in turn may either take the tile just discarded bythe previous player, or draw the next tile from the supply in thecentre of the table, and must then discard one unwanted tile. Thiscontinues in anticlockwise rotation until a player forms a winninghand and exposes it, ending the play.
Discarded tiles are placed to the right of the player who discardedthem, in a stack, so that only the most recent discard in the stackis visible.
The usual rule is that you are allowed to look through all thetiles in the discard stacks to your right (the tiles you discarded)and to your left (the tiles you had an opportunity to take), butyou can only see the exposed top tiles of the two discard stacks onthe other side of the table.
The object of the game is to collect sets and runs.

There are some details which we have to go through first beforewe discuss scoring. To see who will play first, a die is cast aftereach player is handed 14 tiles. Starting with whoever is chosen toplay, the rotation of playing is then done counterclockwise. Oncethe order is chosen, a joker card is picked by simply choosing acard and flipping it over. The card which is one number than theflipped card and of the same color is the joker card. After all ofthat is done, it is time for the game to truly begin.
