Description

The Government Engineering College, BartonHill, Thiruvananthapuram, was founded by the Government of Kerala,India, in August 1999. The institution is located in Barton Hill,which is two kilometres from the city centre in Trivandrum. Theinstitute has five major departments: Electronics andCommunication, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering,Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Civil Engineering.

ISTE students' chapter of GEC Barton Hill started functioning inthe academic year 2013-2014. The chapter was officially inauguratedon September 11th, 2013 by Dr.V.Radhakrishnan, Former Dean, IITMadras. Dr. N.R.Rajesh (Assistant Professor , MechanicalEngineering) is the present faculty secretary. Prof. SatheeeshKumar S (Assistant Professor , Mechanical Engineering) is thefaculty advisor to the students' chapter. Dr.B.Anil (Principal GECBarton Hill and Chairman, ISTE Kerala Section ) assumed office asthe chapter President on 26th May, 2014.

Within a short span of time after its establishment the chapterredefined the frontiers of technical education within the campus.At present, the chapter is the largest student organization withinthe campus with a strength of more than 340 members. The chapter isactively involved in administrative/academic matters as well as instudents' technical programmes. the chapter publishes a bi monthlycampus newsletter " The Platform".
