Associations affiliated with FIFA may send teams to participateinthe tournament. Men's teams are restricted to under-23players(born on or after 1 January 1993) with a maximum of threeoverageplayers allowed, while there are no age restrictions onwomen'steams.
Apart from Rio de Janeiro, which will host the women's final on19August and the men's final on 20 August at the Estádio doMaracanã,the other five cities that have made the shortlist of theRio 2016Organising Committee are: São Paulo, Belo Horizonte,Brasília,Salvador, and Manaus, which were all host cities duringthe 2014FIFA World Cup.
