The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) oftheChristian Bible is an English translation released in 1989. Itisan updated revision of the Revised Standard Version, whichwasitself an update of the American Standard Version.The NRSVwasintended as a translation to serve devotional, liturgicalandscholarly needs of the broadest possible range ofreligiousadherents. The full translation includes the books of thestandardProtestant canon as well as the books traditionallyincluded in thecanons of Roman Catholicism and OrthodoxChristianity(“Deuterocanonical” books).The New Revised StandardVersion is theversion most commonly preferred by biblical scholarsand used inthe most influential publications in the field.
