Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun est l’une des grandes portraitistesde son temps, à l’égal de Quentin de La Tour ou Jean-BaptisteGreuze. Issue de la petite bourgeoisie, elle va trouver sa place aumilieu des grands du royaume, et notamment auprès du roi et de safamille. Elle devient ainsi le peintre officiel de la reineMarie-Antoinette. L’exposition, qui est la première rétrospectivefrançaise à lui être consacrée, présente près de 130 oeuvres del’artiste, construisant un parcours complet à travers une oeuvrepicturale majeure et une grande page de l’histoire del’Europe.
Exposition organisée par la Rmn-GP, le Metropolitan Museum of Artde New York et le Musée des Beaux-Arts du Canada à Ottawa.
L’exposition se tiendra à New York du 9 février au 15 mai 2016 et àOttawa du 10 juin au 12 septembre 2016.
