Androlyzer analyzes on which confidential information your apps onyour devices are accessed and informs you about potential undesiredinformation flows. During the installation of an app certainpermissions are to be granted in order to allow operationalreliability. These permissions are usually divided into functionalgroups and presented to the user without further details whetherdata access take place as it happens or not. For example, a gamingapp requests access to device state information as well as accessfor internet. The user may be informed, that access to the devicestate is required in order to pause a game during an incoming call.Internet access is required for the synchronization of the highscore. Based on this example, the app could read the IMEI of thedevice or other specific data and transmit it to any other thirdparties. Among this example, there are many other ways on howpersonal data could be transmitted to a destination an appdeveloper intends. Androlyzer uncovers such undesired data flowsafter analyzing apps installed on your device. Weapproach this problem by providing static analysis of app binariesas a client as well as a web service. We maintain a large databaseof security and privacy related reports on Android applications,which can be accessed through a web browser. Additionally, weprovide full-fledged analysis as a client app. This app is aresearch prototype by Distributed Artificial IntelligenceLaboratory of the Technische Universität Berlin and has been partlyfunded by BMBF. It will provide useful information, but it does notclaim to be a complete security solution. We recommend using atraditional signature-based antivirus along Androlyzer.
