Bon Jovi is an American rock bandfromSayreville, New Jersey. Formed in 1983, Bon Jovi consists ofleadsinger and namesake Jon Bon Jovi (born John Francis Bongiovi,Jr.),pianist and keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres,leadguitarist Phil X, and bassist Hugh McDonald. The band's lineuphasremained mostly static during its history, with the onlyexceptionsbeing the 1994 dismissal of bass player Alec John Such,who wasunofficially replaced by Hugh McDonald, and the departureoflongtime guitarist and co-songwriter Richie Sambora in 2013. PhilXand McDonald would later both become official members in 2016.In1986, Bon Jovi achieved widespread global recognition withtheirthird album, Slippery When Wet. The band's fourth album, NewJerseywas equally successful in 1988. After touring andrecordingnon-stop during the late 1980s, the band went on hiatusfollowingthe New Jersey Tour in 1990, during which time Jon BonJovi andRichie Sambora both released successful solo albums. In1992, theband returned with the album Keep the Faith. Their 2000single"It's My Life", which followed a second hiatus,successfullyintroduced the band to a younger audience. Bon Jovihave been knownto use different styles in their music, which hasincluded countryfor their 2007 album Lost Highway. On March 12,2013, Bon Jovireleased their 12th studio album, What About Now.
