The 2013 Oklahoma tornado occurred on the afternoon of May 20,2013. The EF5 tornado with winds estimated at 210 miles per hour(340 km/h) impacted Moore, Oklahoma, Newcastle and adjacent areasin Oklahoma, US. The tornado was part of a larger weather systemthat had produced several other tornadoes over the previous twodays. The tornado touched down at 2:45 p.m. CDT (19:45 UTC) west ofNewcastle, staying on the ground for approximately 50 minutes overa 17-mile (27 km) path, crossing through a heavily populatedsection of Moore. The tornado was 1.3 miles (2.1 km) wide at itspeak.
