Five Nights at Freddy's 4 is an indie point-and-clicksurvivalhorror game developed by Scott Cawthon, and the fourthinstallmentof the Five Nights at Freddy's series. It is believedthat the gameis a prequel to Five Nights at Freddy's 2, speculatedto take placein 1983, chronologically being the first game in theseries.

The fourth game deviates from previous games in many ways -insteadof having a Monitor to ward away animatronics, the playermustinstead check the Doors, Closet, and the Bed and utilizeaFlashlight and doors to ward away any nightmareanimatronicsoutside of the Bedroom.

On October 31st, 2015, Scott added a non-canon importantupdate,known as the Halloween Update, that reskinned NightmareBonnie andNightmare Chica to pumpkin-like animatronics, andreplaced threeanimatronics, (Plushtrap, Nightmare Foxy, andNightmare) with threenew ones, (Nightmare Balloon Boy, NightmareMangle andNightmarionne) respectively.
