Born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico,GloriaTrevi left Monterrey to Mexico City to pursue a career.
In 1985, Trevi was a member of a short-lived girl groupnamedBoquitas Pintadas. After the group broke up in 1988, sheapproachedSergio Andrade for the production of her first soloalbum, ¿QuéHago Aquí? ("What am I doing Here?"), was released in1989 andscored a number one hit, Dr. Psiquiatra. Though oftenstyled asMadonna of Mexico,

Trevi followed this first record with Tu Ángel de laGuarda("Your Guardian Angel"), which was even more successful.PeloSuelto was successful too, reaching number one all overLatinAmerica and in Spain. Her third album, Me siento tan sola ("IFeelSo Lonely"), was released in 1992 garnering another hit,ZapatosViejos ("Old Shoes").

In 1994, she released the singles El Recuento De Los Daños andLapapa sin catsup of the album Más Turbada Que Nunca, both whichhitthe top of the Billboard Latin charts.In 2000, Trevi, Andrade,andbackup singer Maria Raquenel Portillo were arrested in RiodeJaneiro, Brazil, on charges of corrupting minors.A yearlater,Trevi announced that she was pregnant while in prison; thefatherof the child was Andrade, according to DNA tests by theBrazilianauthorities (Trevi and her defence claimed that theresults of theDNA test were doctored).Trevi was cleared of thecharges in 2004,due to lack of evidence, after spending four yearsand eight monthsin prison.Trevi married Armando Gómez, a lawyer, in2009. She nowlives in McAllen, Texas.
