Description

David (hebreo: דָּוִד, «el amado» o «elelegidode Dios»; c. 1040-966 a. C.) fue un rey israelita, sucesorde Saúl ysegundo monarca del Reino de Israel, que logró unificarsuterritorio e incluso expandirlo, hasta comprender las ciudadesdeJerusalén y Samaria, Petra, Zabah y Damasco.

La historia de David figura en la Biblia, en los Librosdelprofeta Samuel y en el Libro de los Salmos. David fue uno delosgrandes gobernantes de Israel y padre de otro de ellos, Salomón.Esvenerado como rey y profeta en el judaísmo, elcristianismo(católicos el 29 de diciembre) y el islam.

Percepción histórica.

David es considerado como un rey justo, valiente,apasionado;guerrero, músico y poeta, pero un rey, también, noexento depecados. El fue elegido por Dios en persona de quegobernaríaIsrael. Se le atribuye la autoría de gran parte del Librode losSalmos. Aparentemente vivió entre los años 1040 y 966 a. C.,reinóen Judá entre el 1010 y 1006 a. C. y sobre el reino unido deIsraelentre el año 1006 y el 966 a. C..

Los Libros de Samuel son la crónica principal de su vida ysureinado, continuando con sus descendientes en el Libro delosReyes. Se han preservado pocas referencias arqueológicas, perolaestela de Tel Dan y la estela de Mesha podrían determinarlaexistencia, a mediados del s. IX a. C., de una dinastía realhebreallamada «Casa de David». Además de existir otras referenciaseneste grabado sobre la descendencia del rey David.

Así también, la costumbre de dejar genealogías en lasfamiliashebreas lo hace aparecer en varias de ellas en la mismaBiblia.

La vida de David es importante para el judaísmo y elcristianismo. Su biografía se basa casi exclusivamente en loslibros de Samuel,donde se lo describe además como «rubio, dehermosos ojos, prudentey muy bella presencia».

Also, the habit of leaving family genealogies in the Hebrewdoesappear in several of them in the Bible itself.

David's life is important for Judaism and Christianity.Hisbiography is based almost exclusively on the books of Samuel,wherehe is also described as "ruddy, with beautiful eyes, wise andverybeautiful presence."
