Description

Bajirao Mastani is a 2015 Indian epic historical romance filmproduced and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who also composedthe music score of the film. The film stars Ranveer Singh asBajirao I, Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai, and Deepika Padukone asMastani. The film also features Tanvi Azmi, Vaibbhav Tatwawdi andMilind Soman. Based on the Marathi novel Raau by Nagnath S.Inamdar, the film narrates the story of the Maratha warrior PeshwaBajirao(1700-1740 AD) and his Muslim wife Mastani.

The film was in development for 15 years, Bhansali wanted tomake the film after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. However, several times,the production was delayed due to the changing cast. Principalphotography started in mid 2014, after the casting of principleroles were finalised. The film was released on 18 December 2015 topositive reviews from critics, who praised the direction,cinematography, production design, costumes, music andperformances, particularly of Padukone,Chopra and Singh.
