Sheikh Mishary bin Rashid bin Gharib bin Muhammad Al-Afasybornin Kuwait in September 5, 1976 is a Kuwaiti preacher, imamquranreciter and nasheed artist. He is also known as Abu Rashid(Thefather of Rashid).
Mishary Al Afasy is recognized for his beautiful voice anduniquerecitation of Quran. Many reciters have come to imitate hismode ofrecitation.

He studied Quran in the College of the Holy Quran at theIslamicUniversity of Madinah ( Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia),specializing inthe ten readings of the Holy Quran. He has read theQuran to SheikhAhmed Abdulaziz Al-Zaiat, Sheikh Ibrahim Ali ShahataAl-Samanodei,and the Sheikh Abdurarea Radwan. He impressed a numberof greatreciters of Quran with his recitation.

Mishary Al Afasy is the Imam of Grand Mosque (Kuwait), andeveryRamadan he leads the Taraweeh prayers in this Mosque. He veryoftenleads the Taraweeh prayers in the UAE and otherneighboringcountries in the Gulf.

In 2007, he visited two mosques in the United States of America:the Islamic Center of Irvine (ICOI) in California and theIslamicCenter of Detroit (ICD) in Michigan.
