Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon is"probablythe most adventurous trail run in the world."
The journey begins with a sweeping scenic flight from KathmandutoLukla, then we trek through Sherpa villages with beautiful viewofthe world's highest snowcapped peaks. The highest spot of thistripis Kalapatthar at 5545m/18200ft, from the summit of which wecanenjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Himalayan peaks, rangesandglaciers including Mt Everest a stone's throw away.

We shall trek to Everest Base Camp from where the racebegins.Along the way we shall pass through the Everest NationalPark andNamche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital town. We will also visittheBuddhist monasteries of Pangboche (one of the oldest in thearea)and Thyangboche (the biggest in the whole Himalayas) whichwasre-built after being burnt to the ground years ago (apparentlytheold monk wanted to douse the electric heater by banging it onthefloor).

This is the only trip, apart from mountaineeringexpeditions,that has overnight camping right at the base oftowering Mt Everestnear the notorious Khumbu Icefall.

This amazingevent isconducted to commemorate the first successful ascent ofEverest byLate Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Late Sir Edmund Hillary on29th May,1953.We consider the marathon a most fitting tribute tothese twogreat men-icons of adventurous souls in the annals ofhuman historyand civilization.

The marathon starts from the Everest Base Camp(5364m/17,598ft)and finishes at Namche Bazaar (3446m/11306ft). Themeasureddistance of the course is 42.195 km (26.2 miles) overroughmountain trails.

All participants of are requested to be in Nepal threeweeksprior to the race for acclimatizing to the high altitude.Thisthree-week holiday combines sightseeing tour in thecapital,Kathmandu, a 14 day trek to the marathon starting pointundermedical supervision, an ascent of Kala Patthar (5545m/18200ft)forthe best views of Everest. Although the course of theEverestMarathon is basically downhill, there are two steepuphillsections. There may be snow and ice on the upper partandconsiderable exposure along much of the marathon routeExperienceof rough terrain is essential. This is the world's mostspectacularrace held annually.
