His Holiness Lokanath Swami was born in 1949 in the villageofAravade in Maharashtra, India. He became an initiated discipleofSrila Prabhupada in 1972. He then received Sannyasa from HisDivineGrace in December 1975, at the age of 26 years.

Srila Prabhupada ordered him to preach Lord Caitanya’s messagebyorganising Padayatra (walking festival) worldwide. The first legofthe journey was from Vrndavan to Mayapur. In the course ofhispadayatra service, His Holiness travelled by foot to many ofthemajor tirthas and sacred sites of India.

As the ISKCON minister for the Srila Prabhupada Centennial,HisHoliness co-ordinated a global campaign. In 1996, themagnificentCentennial celebrations achieved unprecedented successin terms ofthe number of Srila Prabhupada’s books distributed,plates ofprasadam served, and festivals conducted worldwide.

In addition to his preaching in Maharashtra, His Holinesstravelsthe globe, and is well known for his inspiring lectures andkirtans.Presently, he is working on several book projects, andplans topublish them in the years to come.

He is one of the initiating Gurus in ISKCON today, andhasinitiated disciples all over the world.
