A essência de nossa igreja é a congregação das pessoas queacompõem, mais um organismo vivo - que o Novo Testamento chamadecorpo de Cristo - que uma organização-instituição religiosa.Nestainstituição nós adoramos a Deus, cuidamos das pessoas,prestamosserviços sociais à comunidade, desenvolvemos ministérios atoda afaixa etária, desde os bebês até a idade melhor.

A IBC quer ser um sinal histórico do reino de Deus. Cremos queoministério da Igreja é extensão do ministério terreno deJesus:“assim como o Pai me enviou ao mundo, eu também vos envio”(João17:18; 20:21). Nesse caso, cremos que Jesus inaugurou o reinodeDeus, isto é, começou a trazer de volta todo o Universo criadoparao controle de fato e de direito de Deus. Com Jesus, a vontadedeDeus começa a ser feita na terra, como é feita no céu(Mateus6:10). A IBC quer poder dizer a mesma coisa que Jesus diziaaosseus contemporâneos: “o reino de Deus chegou até vocês”(Lucas11:20).
