"Shraddh" also means “Shraddha" which means unconditionalreverence. Shraddh is performed every year on the death anniversaryof the deceased relative as per the Panchang (The Hindu calendar)or during the period of dark fortnight called Pitru Paksha.

In some regions this period is the Bhadrapad Krishna Paksha.According to the Hindu religion, Pitru Paksha is very important andauspicious. During this period, there are certain non-indulgencesthat should be followed keeping in mind the sanctity of theritual.
