Apa itu guru pembelajar? Program inidikembangkan oleh Kemdikbud pasca UKG tahun 2015 lalu. Tujuannyauntuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru. Artinya guru disuruh lagibelajar untuk meningkatkan kompetensinya lewat pelatihan baikberupa tatap muka maupun online.

Sebagai mana kita tahu nilai standar minimum UKG untuk tahun2016 adalah 65 naik 10 poin dibanding standar minimum UKG 2015 laluyang hanya 55 poin. Saat ini program guru pembelajar baru diikutisekitar 1200 an orang yang terdiri dari guru yang memiliki nilaiUji Kompetensi Guru (UKG) diatas 80, Widyaiswara dari LPMP danPPPTK, dan dosen. Nantinya mereka akan ditunjuk menjadi instrukturbagi guru lainnya di seluruh Indonesia

Saat ini sudah ada modul resmi yang dirilis Kemdikbud dalamrangka pelatihan guru pembelajar.Proses Guru pembelajar saat inisedang dalam pelatihan para instruktur Nasional dan NarasumberNasional yang nantinya akan melatih guru guru di daerah dalamprogram guru pembelajar tersebut.

Sejalan dengan Program Guru Pembelajar, pemetaan kompetensi baikKompetensi Pedagogik maupun Kompetensi Profesional sangatdibutuhkan bagi Guru. Informasi tentang peta kompetensi tersebutdiwujudkan, salah satunya dalam Modul Pelatihan Guru Pembelajardari berbagai mata pelajaran.
