Una guida unica alla scoperta dei“GrandiAlberi” dei Nebrodi che rappresentano la testimonianzapiùsignificativa del ricco patrimonio forestale del Parco deiNebrodi.

L'app mobile è la versione multimediale del volume “Igrandialberi dei Nebrodi”, edito dall’Ente Parco e curato daibotaniciRosario Schicchi, Giuseppe Bazan, Pasquale Marino &FrancescoM. Raimondo dell’Università di Palermo, sono riportateschede eimmagini riguardanti 60 splendidi alberi plurisecolari,selezionatisu oltre 200 piante. Alcuni di essi hanno caratteridieccezionalità rispetto a quelli presenti in altri contestidellaSicilia e del territorio italiano. Tra questi, anche ilgrande“Acerone” che si erge maestoso con oltre 20 metri di altezzae 6metri di circonferenza alle pendici di Monte Soro, l’estremitàpiùelevata dei Nebrodi (1847 m.), e l’enorme faggio di FagoScuro;entrambi, per le dimensioni del loro fusto, sono gliindividui piùgrandi delle rispettive specie in Sicilia e, con moltaprobabilità,anche del territorio Italiano. Altri esemplaririlevanti, inseritinel libro, sono alcuni olivi, censiti neiterritori dei comuni diCaronia, Pettineo e Tusa, che superano i 9 mdi circonferenza apetto d’uomo e i 18 m in corrispondenza dellaceppaia. Tali uliviricordano quelli di cui parlano le TabulaeHalaesinae per un’anticaarea dei Nebrodi (Alesa Arconidea) e delsuo territorio limitrofo,dove vetusti esemplari assurgevano alruolo di monumenti naturali,attraverso il contrassegno delmonogramma alesino inciso sullacorteccia, proprio come segnodurevole di confine.
