Alaska bears have always been a popular attraction among visitorsespecially during Winter. Maybe it's because Alaska has all threedifferent types of American bears! Alaska is home to the black bear(Ursus Americanus), the brown/grizzly bear (Ursus Arctos), and thepolar bear (Ursus Maritimus). Each of these species can be viewedin Alaska.

The Black bear is the most common and abundant of the NorthAmerican bears and can be found in all states except Hawaii andlove to cuddle. In Alaska Mountain they are typically seen inforested areas. Brown/Grizzly bear when they think of bears at all.In Alaska, they can be found in most places. The Polar bear is onlyseen in the northern hemisphere, north of the Arctic Circle, andlives most of its life near sea ice, which it uses forhunting

A powerful and patient predator on land, sea, and ice, the polarbear or white bear is the world’s largest carnivore and a uniquesymbol of the Arctic with white Color. Hundreds of thousands ofyears ago, Ursus maritimus, or the sea bear, evolved from its brownbear (Ursus arctos) ancestors to occupy an ecological niche in thefrozen far north. Its white coat, made of water repellant hair ontop of a dense undercoat, serves as camouflage and acts to reflectsunlight to the bears black skin. Its large paddle-like feet, withtheir fur covered pads, are well suited for swimming and fordispersing the weight of the bear when hunting on ice for ringedseal and other prey.

The polar bear is a carnivorous bear whose native range lieslargely within the Arctic Circle, encompassing the Arctic Ocean, its surrounding seas and surrounding land masses. It is a largebear, approximately the same size as the omnivorous Kodiak bear . Aboar (adult male) weighs around 350–700 kg (772–1,543 lb), while asow (adult female) is about half that size. Although it is thesister species of the brown bear, it has evolved to occupy anarrower ecological niche, with many body characteristics adaptedfor cold temperatures, for moving across snow, ice, and open water, and for hunting seals, which make up most of its diet. Althoughmost polar bears are born on land, they spend most of their time onthe sea ice. Their scientific name means "maritime bear", andderives from this fact. Polar bears hunt their preferred food ofseals from the edge of sea ice, often living off fat reserves whenno sea ice is present. Because of their dependence on the sea ice, polar bears are classified as marine mammals.

Because of expected habitat loss caused by climate change, thepolar bear is classified as a vulnerable species, and at leastthree of the nineteen polar bear subpopulations are currently indecline. For decades, large-scale hunting raised internationalconcern for the future of the species but populations reboundedafter controls and quotas began to take effect. For thousands ofyears, the polar bear has been a key figure in the material, spiritual, and cultural life of Arctic indigenous peoples, andpolar bears remain important in their cultures.
