موهانداس كرمشاند غاندي(بالإنجليزية:MohandasKaramchand Gandhi)؛ (2 أكتوبر 1869 - 30 يناير1948) كان السياسيالبارز والزعيم الروحي للهند خلال حركة استقلالالهند. كان رائداًللساتياغراها وهي مقاومة الاستبداد من خلال العصيانالمدني الشامل،التي تأسست بقوة عقب أهمسا أو اللاعنف الكامل، والتيأدت إلى استقلالالهند وألهمت الكثير من حركات الحقوق المدنية والحريةفي جميع أنحاءالعالم. غاندي معروف في جميع أنحاء العالم باسم المهاتماغاندي(بالسنسكريتية : महात्मा المهاتما أي 'الروح العظيمة'، وهو تشريفتمتطبيقه عليه من قبل رابندراناث طاغور، [4] وأيضاً في الهند باسمبابو(بالغوجاراتية : બાપુ بابو أي "الأب"). تم تشريفه رسمياً فيالهندباعتباره أبو الأمة؛ حيث أن عيد ميلاده، 2 أكتوبر، يتم الاحتفالبههناك كـغاندي جايانتي، وهو عطلة وطنية، وعالمياً هو اليومالدوليللاعنف.

Mohandas KaramchandGandhi(English: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi); (2 October 1869-30January1948) was a prominent political and spiritual leader ofIndia duringthe Indian independence movement.
