About the International Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics
The International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics publishesarticles on all aspects of basic and clinical research in thefields of obstetrics and gynecology and related subjects, withemphasis on matters of worldwide interest.
Since its inception, the International Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics (IJGO) has had two primary purposes. One has been toserve an international audience by publishing original scientificarticles and communications originating in low-income countrieswhich emphasize important obstetric and gynecologic problems,issues, and perspectives, such as maternal mortality and familyplanning; as well as publishing original articles andcommunications from the scientific community of high-incomecountries, with particular emphasis on sharing advances in thespecialty of obstetrics and gynecology; and the other has been tofurther the organizational purposes of the International Federationof Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) by providing a means ofbringing to the readership decisions of the officers and executiveboard, reports of the standing committees of FIGO, and informationfrom the FIGO Secretariat in the intervals between meetings of theexecutive board and the international congresses; and by providinginformation from the World Health Organization and those otherimportant international organizations that deal with women's healthand the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology.
