Paulina Susana Rubio-Dosamantes(Spanishpronunciation: born 17 June 1971) is a Mexican singer,actress,television music competition judge, hostess, modelandbusinesswoman. The Queen of Latin Pop is the top-sellingMexicanfemale pop singer in the market. She began her music careerasoriginal member of the pop group Timbiriche from 1981 through1991,before leaving the group in order to focus on her solo career.

Her debut album, La Chica Dorada (1992) was released underEMIMusic and it reached position number 42 in Billboard TopLatinAlbums and number 2 in Billboard Latin Pop. Her first single"Mío"debuts in Billboard in position number 19 in Hot Latin Tracksandreach position number 3, Her next albums 24 Kilates (1993),ElTiempo Es Oro (1995) and Planeta Paulina (1996) also helpedRubiobecome better known in Hispanic America. Rubio's departurefrom EMIMusic happened in the same year. She rejected the contractbypaying a lot of money to be free from EMI Music, lookingforfreedom of expression and creativity.
