Envisioned by Prime Minister ShriNarendraModi, Digital India is an ambitious program to prepareIndia forthe knowledge based transformation and delivering goodgovernanceto citizens by synchronized and co-ordinated engagementwith bothcentral government and state government.

The Digital India program is centered on three key areas–Digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen,governanceand services on demand and digital empowerment ofcitizens. Digitalinfrastructure as a utility to every citizen willfocus onproviding high speed secure Internet for enablingparticipation indigital and financial space. Governance andservices on demand willstress on integrating services acrossdepartments and jurisdictionsand making services available in realtime for both online andmobile platform.

The nine pillars of digital India program include:broadbandhighway, universal access, public Internet access,e-Governance,e-Kranti, information for all, electronicsmanufacturing, IT forjobs and early harvest program.

Delhi government’s objectives of setting up WiFi are: MobileParSarkar, Promote Education, Spur up Entrepreneurship, Make DelhiaTraders Hub, Promote Tourism, Women Empowerment andWomenSafety.
