The Quba Mosque (Quba' Masjid or Masjid al-Quba, Arabic: مسجدقباء), in the outlying environs of Medina in Saudi Arabia, is theoldest mosque in the world. Its first stones were positioned by theIslamic Prophet Muhammad on hisemigration from the city of Mecca toMedina and the mosque was completed by his companions. Muhammadspent more than 20 nights in this mosque (after migrating) prayingqasr (a short prayer).


According to Islamic tradition, offering two rakaʿāt of naflprayers in the Quba Mosque is equal to performing one Umrah. QubaMasjid is the first mosque built in the history of Islam and wasbuilt as soon as Muhammad arrived on the Hijra.
