Description

Djalouz Art

Born in 1985 and raised in Paris, Djalouz is a French mixedmedia artist and street activist. In 2003, he graduated in designand became involved in graffiti.
He was directly inspired by the young French and European risingscene (Marko 93, Dire132, Daim, Vesod, Dran, Gris One, Inti, Vhils,No art...) and also by comic strip universe (Enki Bilal, FrankMiller).

Spray can has always been Djalouz’s favourite instrument, itsideal for large format paintings and can be applied on multiplesurfaces.

Abandoned industrial sites, wastelands and other places worn outby time allow him to open new universes’. In 2009 Djalouz putsaside his figurative work and develops an abstractive one throughshapes and volume performing into incongruous places.

From then on, Djalouz has never stopped to take graffiti out ofits own conventions by painting from the ground to the ceiling… andwherever!
Through streets and industrial wastelands as well as on the canvasor artwork, Djalouz’s work takes sense from elements surroundingit. They create a melody inspired by the melancholy of theplace.

Photography has also an important role in emotionaltranscription by leaving a trace of these works that due to theirvery nature are bound to disappear. Manufactured landscapes are byfar his favourite playground.

With canvas painting, Djalouz buries himself into the frame andconfers a soul to it.
A soul inspired by these disused places scarred by time. Hiscontinuous evolution is ongoing and his experimentation has nolimit. Beyond the canvas and walls, the gate of his imagination isdeep and wide.
