أبو الطيّب المتنبي (303هـ - 354هـ) (915م-965م) هو أحمدُ بن الحسين بن الحسن بن عبد الصمد الجعفي أبوالطيبالكندي الكوفي المولد[1]، نسب إلى قبيلة كندة نتيجة لولادته بحيتلكالقبيلة في الكوفة لانتمائه لهم. عاش أفضل ايام حياته واكثرها عطاءفيبلاط سيف الدولة الحمداني في حلب وكان من أعظم شعراء العرب،وأكثرهمتمكناً من اللغة العربية وأعلمهم بقواعدها ومفرداتها، ولهمكانة ساميةلم تتح مثلها لغيره من شعراء العربية. فيوصف بأنه نادرةزمانه،وأعجوبة عصره، وظل شعره إلى اليوم مصدر إلهام ووحي للشعراءوالأدباء.وهو شاعر حكيم، وأحد مفاخر الأدب العربي. وتدور معظم قصائدهحول مدحالملوك، ويقولون عنه بانه شاعر اناني ويظهر ذلك في اشعاره،ولقد قالالشعر صبياً، فنظم أول اشعاره وعمره 9 سنوات، وأشتهر بحدةالذكاءواجتهاده وظهرت موهبته الشعرية مبكراً.[2][3][4]
وكان المتنبي صاحب كبرياء وشجاعة وطموح ومحب للمغامرات، وكان فيشعرهيعتز بعروبته، وتشاؤم وافتخار بنفسه، وأفضل شعره في الحكمةوفلسفةالحياة ووصف المعارك، إذ جاء بصياغة قوية محكمة. وإنه شاعر مبدععملاقغزير الإنتاج يعد بحق مفخرة للأدب العربي، فهو صاحب الأمثالالسائرةوالحكم البالغة والمعاني المبتكرة. وجد الطريق أمامه أثناءتنقلهمهيئاً لموهبته الشعرية الفائقة لدى الأمراء والحكام، إذ تدورمعظمقصائده حول مدحهم. لكن شعره لا يقوم على التكلف والصنعة،لتفجرأحاسيسه وامتلاكه ناصية اللغة والبيان، مما أضفى عليه لوناً منالجمالوالعذوبة. ترك تراثاً عظيماً من الشعر القوي الواضح، يضم 326قصيدة،تمثل عنواناً لسيرة حياته، صور فيها الحياة في القرن الرابعالهجريأوضح تصوير، ويستدل منها كيف جرت الحكمة على لسانه، لاسيما فيقصائدهالأخيرة التي بدأ فيها وكأنه يودعه الدنيا عندما قال: أبلىالهوىبدني.
شهدت الفترة التي نشأ فيها أبو الطيب تفكك الدولة العباسيةوتناثرالدويلات الإسلامية التي قامت على أنقاضها. فقد كانت فترة نضجحضاريوتصدع سياسي وتوتر وصراع عاشها العرب والمسلمون. فالخلافة فيبغدادانحسرت هيبتها والسلطان الفعلي في أيدي الوزراء وقادة الجيشومعظمهممن غير العرب. ثم ظهرت الدويلات والإمارات المتصارعة في بلادالشام،وتعرضت الحدود لغزوات الروم والصراع المستمر على الثغورالإسلامية، ثمظهرت الحركات الدموية في العراق كحركة القرامطة وهجماتهمعلى الكوفة.لقد كان لكل وزير ولكل أمير في الكيانات السياسيةالمتنافسة مجلس يجمعفيه الشعراء والعلماء يتخذ منهم وسيلة دعايةوتفاخر ووسيلة صلة بينهوبين الحكام والمجتمع، فمن انتظم في هذا المجلسأو ذاك من الشعراء أوالعلماء يعني اتفق وإياهم على إكبار هذا الأميرالذي يدير هذا المجلسوذاك الوزير الذي يشرف على ذاك. والشاعر الذييختلف مع الوزير فيبغداد مثلاً يرتحل إلى غيره فإذا كان شاعراًمعروفاً استقبله المقصودالجديد، وأكبره لينافس به خصمه أو ليفخربصوته.
