Macular degeneration is the leading cause ofblindness in those 65 and older. Currently, more than 11 millionpeople suffer from this devastating disease. This number isexpected to reach 20 million by the year 2020, which is 1 out ofevery 5 people. The Macula Vision Research Foundation (MVRF) is a501 (c)(3) organization leading the way to finding a cure formacular degeneration and other retinal diseases. Since 1997, MVRFhas provided in excess of $20 million to fund groundbreakingresearch projects conducted by the world’s top scientists with thepromise of improving the lives of millions of people affected byvisual impairment. What makes MVRF unique is that 100% of everydollar donated goes directly to research. All administrative andfundraising expenses are underwritten by the Karen and Herb LotmanFoundation, allowing MVRF to allocate all donations towards findinga cure. Along with funding research, MVRF also provides educationand outreach to those with visual impairments through ourSupportSightSM seminars and newsletter.
