The ESC of Lake Erie West programsareadministratively grouped under six headings.

Center for Teaching & Learning: The Center for Teaching&Learning includes five major service areas.

Student Services programs focus on students frompreschoolthrough age 21 challenged by physical, mental andemotionaldisabilities. One specific Student Services program istheAlternate Learning Center (ALC). The ALC is a K-12 schoolforchildren with severe emotional, behavioral and mentalhealthdisabilities. Students are provided with academic programmingandtaught skills needed to make a successful transition back totheirhome school
School Improvement Consultants work with district teachersandcurriculum directors to improve instruction andsupportprofessional development objectives.
Gifted Education serves students in six school districts
As an authorized Pearson VUE test center, we offer the GED aswellas approximately 80 other computer-based assessments.
Challenger Learning Center immerses students in arealisticsimulation of NASA’s Mission Control Center and SpaceLab.
State Support Team – Region One: The SSTR1 is responsible fortheregional delivery of school improvement, literacy,specialeducation compliance, and early learning and schoolreadinessservices to districts. The SST serves schools and schooldistrictsin Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa,Paulding,Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, andWoodcounties.

Community Schools: The ESC of Lake Erie West helpedpilotcommunity schools in Ohio at the direction of thestatelegislature. We currently sponsor 65 community schoolsthroughoutOhio. .

Auxiliary Services: Through this federal and statefundedprogram, chartered non-public (parochial) schools receiveservicesfor their students. Twenty-six schools currently contractwith theESC of Lake Erie West for specialized services.

Fiscal Services: The treasurer’s office provides fiscalservicesto schools, school districts and community schools.Servicesinclude training in school accounting, assistance withfinancialplanning, preparation of financial statements, payroll andpurchaseorder processing, oversight of federal and state reporting,grantmanagement, EMIS support, health insuranceadministration,STRS/SERS and worker’s compensation reporting.

Administrative Services Programs: The Collingwood Center offersafitness/aquatic center to staff, students and community members.TheMotorcycle Safety Program is offered county wide every summerandinvolves motorcycle riding practice and safety instruction.TheTraffic Safety Program is funded by federal grants and isfocusedon reducing deaths, injuries, and costs associated withmotorvehicle crashes. The ESC of Lake Erie West is also theapprovalagent for Home Education for four local districts.
