Ethiopian Satellite Television Service (ESAT)is a nonpartisan, independent media outlet established primarily topromote free press, democracy, respect for human rights and therule of law in Ethiopia. ESAT’s main studio is in Amsterdam, TheNetherlands. It has branch studios in Washington D.C. and London.ESAT was established on April 24, 2010 to present accurate andbalanced news, analysis and information, as well as entertainment,talk shows, documentaries, sports and cultural programmingpertaining to Ethiopia and the rest of the world. ESAT’s mainobjective is to provide free access to information to the people ofEthiopia. The Foundation Ethiopian Satellite Television (ESAT), anon-governmental organization registered under the Dutch Chamber ofCommerce is the owner of ESAT. ESAT’s operation in North America isalso run by Advocacy for Media and Democracy in Ethiopia, anon-profit organisation incorporated in the United States. ESATproduces daily news, in-depth News Analysis, Feature Stories, PanelDiscussions, Interviews, Entertainment, Sports, Historical andCultural Programs. In addition, there are programs on health andthe environment. ESAT relies on the contribution of its supportersto stay on air.
