Sheikh Mishary bin Rashid bin Gharib binMuhammad Al Afasy (born in Kuwait in September 5, 1976) is aKuwaiti preacher, imam quran reciter and nasheed artist. He is alsoknown as Abu Rashid (The father of Rashid).

Mishary Al-Afasy is recognized for his beautiful voice andunique recitation of Quran. Many reciters have come to imitate hismode of recitation.

He studied Quran in the College of the Holy Quran at the IslamicUniversity of Madinah ( Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia), specializing inthe ten readings of the Holy Quran. He has read the Quran to SheikhAhmed Abdulaziz Al-Zaiat, Sheikh Ibrahim Ali Shahata Al-Samanodei,and the Sheikh Abdurarea Radwan. He impressed a number of greatreciters of Quran with his recitation.

Mishary Al-Afasy is the Imam of Grand Mosque (Kuwait), and everyRamadan he leads the Taraweeh prayers in this Mosque. He very oftenleads the Taraweeh prayers in the UAE and other neighboringcountries in the Gulf.

In 2007, he visited two mosques in the United States of America: the Islamic Center of Irvine (ICOI) in California and the IslamicCenter of Detroit (ICD) in Michigan.
