The player takes control of martial artist Lee, as him fight himwayinto the turf of the Black Warriors gang in order to rescueLee'slove interest, Marry. The player character has a repertoireofmartial arts techniques which they can perform by using thejoystickand three action buttons individually or in combination.Techniquesrange from basic punches and kicks, to more elaborateattacks suchas throws and elbow strikes. When playing with anotherplayer, onecan grab an opponent from behind, allowing the other toattackunimpeded. Caution should be taken, though, as some enemiesare ableto do the same thing to the players. The player begins thegame witha certain number of extra lives and a life gauge whichdepletes asthe player takes hits, and must complete each stagewithin a timelimit. One life is lost if either the life gauge ortimer reacheszero, or if the player character falls off the bottomof the screenor into a hole, river, or bed of spikes.
Certain enemies carry melee weapons, which can be knocked outoftheir hands and picked up to use against them. Availableweaponsinclude baseball bats, whips, throwing knives, and dynamite;inaddition, rocks, oil drums, and boxes can be found incertainplaces.
