Learn Basics of Quran is a free application designed to help peoplelearn Quran with proper pronunciation that is with rules oftajweed. For those who don't understand what is Tajweed, Tajweed isan Arabic word meaning ''correct pronunciation during recitation''.It is a set of rules which dictate how the Qur'an should be read orit is simply the way of reading Quran like our beloved ProphetMuhammad (peace be upon him) was used to read. This qaida is alsoknown by many names e.g. Noorani Qaida, Madani Qaidah, AlnoorQaidah and Ahkaam e Tajweed etc. In the context of the recitationof the Quran, tajwīd (Arabic: تَجْوِيدْ‎ tajwīd, IPA: [tædʒˈwiːd],'elocution') is a set of rules for the correct pronunciation of theletters with all their qualities and applying the varioustraditional methods of recitation (Qira'at / Qirat). In Arabic, theterm tajwid is derived from the triliteral root j-w-d, meaningenhancement or to make something excellent. Technically, it meansgiving every letter its right in reciting the Qur'an. Quraan andHadith (Hadees) on Tajweed: The central Quranic verse about tajwidis verse 73:4: "...and recite the Kuran with measured recitation."The word tartīl Arabic: تَرْتِيْل‎, as used in this verse, is oftenalso used in hadith (hadis) in conjunction with its command. Itmeans to articulate slowly, carefully, and precisely. Abu Dawud's(Daud) hadith collection has a chapter heading titled"Recommendation of [reciting with] tartīl in the Koran." It beginswith the narration: "The Messenger of Allah peace and blessings beupon him said: One who was devoted to the Kur'an will be told torecite, ascend and recite carefully (Arabic: رَتِّلْ‎) as herecited carefully when he was in the world, for he will reach hisabode when he comes to the last verse he recites (Sunan AbiDawood)." This narration describes the importance of the manner ofrecitation and its positive effects in the afterlife. The nextnarration describes the importance of prolongation (Arabic:مَدًّا‎): "Qatadah said: I asked Anas about the recitation of theQur'an by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He said: Heused to express all the long accents clearly (Arabic: كَانَ يَمُدُّمَدًّا‎) (Sunan Abi Dawod 1465)." This narration also shows thateven the companions of the prophet used some terms which are stillused today in tajwīd rules. The Arabic alphabet has 28 basicletters, plus hamzah (ء). ا ب ت ث ج ح خ د ذ ر ز س ش ص ض ط ظ ع غ ف قك ل م ن و ہ ي‎ The Arabic definite article is ال al- (i.e. theletter alif followed by lām).
