Abu Bakr was a senior companion (Sahabah) and thefather-in-lawof the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh). He ruled over theRashidun Caliphatefrom 632-634 CE when he became the first MuslimCaliph followingProphet Muhammad's(pbuh) death. As Caliph, Abu Bakrsucceeded tothe political and administrative functions previouslyexercised bythe Prophet, since the religious function and authorityofprophethood ended with Muhammad's(pbuh) death. He wascalledAl-Siddiq (the truthful) by the Prophet and was known by thattitleamong later generations of Muslims.
