ورد أنه الفتى الذي صاحب موسى للقاء الخضر. وهو النبي الذيأخرجالله على يديه بني إسرائي من صحراء سيناء، وحاربوا أهلفلسطينوانتصروا عليهم

سيرته:

لم يخرج أحد من التيه ممن كان مع موسى. سوى اثنين. هماالرجلاناللذان أشارا على ملأ بني إسرائيل بدخول قرية الجبارين.ويقولالمفسرون: إن أحدهما يوشع بن نون. وهذا هو فتى موسى في قصته معالخضر.صار الآن نبيا من أنبياء بني إسرائيل، وقائدا لجيش يتجه نحوالأرضالتي أمرهم الله بدخولها.

خرج يوشع بن نون ببني إسرائيل من التيه، بعد أربعين سنة، وقصدبهمالأرض المقدسة. ,كانت هذه الأربعين سنة -كما يقول العلماء- كفيلةبأنيموت فيها جميع من خرج مع موسى عليه السلام من مصر، ويبقى جيلجديدتربى على أيادي موسى وهارون ويوشع بن نون، جيل يقيم الصلاويؤتيالزكاة ويؤمن بالله ورسله. قطع بهم نهر الأردن إلى أريحا، وكانتمنأحصن المدائن سورا وأعلاها قصورا وأكثرها أهلا. فحاصرها ستةأشهر.

وتأتي بعض الروايات لتخبرنا بأنه في المعركة الأخيرة التي بدأتفييوم الجمعة، أوشك اليهود على تحقيق الانتصار، لكن الشمس قاربتعلىالمغيب -وكان اليهود لا يعملون ولا يحاربون يوم السبت- فخشى يوشعبننون أن يذهب النصر. فنظر يوشع إلى الشمس وقال: "إنك مأمورة،وأنامأمور، اللهم احبسها علي". فتوقفت الشمس مكانها، وظلت واقفة إلىأنفتح بيت المقدس ودخله.

يرى البعض أن هذه الرواية لا يمكن تصديقها. فالشمس والقمر آيتانمنآيات الله، لا يتوقفان لموت أحد ولا لحياته، ورغم عظمةالخوارقوالمعجزات التي وقعت لبني إسرائيل، فقد كانت كلها معجزات لاتتعارض معناموس الكون ونظامه.. لم تكن هناك معجزة تتعلق بالشمسوالقمر.. لمتجاوز المعجزات أديم الأرض أو البحر أو الجبل.

صدر الأمر الإلهي لبني إسرائيل أن يدخلوا المدينة سجدا.. أيراكعينمطأطئي رءوسهم شاكرين لله عز وجل ما من به عليهم من الفتح.أمروا أنيقولوا حال دخولهم: (حِطَّةٌ).. بمعنى حط عنا خطايانا التيسلفت،وجنبنا الذي تقدم من آبائنا.

إلا أن بني إسرائيل خالف ما أمرت به قولا وفعلا.. فدخلواالبابمتعالين متكبرين، وبدلوا قولا غير الذي قيل لهم.. فأصابهم عذابمنالله بما ظلموا. كانت جريمة الآباء هي الذل، وأصبحت جريمةالأبناءالكبرياء والافتراء.

ولم تكن هذه الجريمة هي أول جرائم بني إسرائيل ولا آخر جرائمهم،فقدعذبوا رسلهم كثيرا بعد موسى، وتحولت التوراة بين أيديهم إلىقراطيسيبدون بعضها ويخفون كثيرا. حسبما تقتضي الأحوال وتدفعالمصلحةالمباشرة، وكان هذا الجحود هو المسؤول عما أصاب بني إسرائيلمنعقوبات.

عاد بنو إسرائيل إلى ظلمهم لأنفسهم.. اعتقدوا أنهم شعباللهالمختار، وتصوروا انطلاقا من هذا الاعتقاد أن من حقهم ارتكاب أيشيءوكل شيء.. وعظمت فيهم الأخطاء وتكاثرت الخطايا وامتدت الجرائمبعدكتابهم إلى أنبيائهم، فقتلوا من قتلوا من الأنبياء.

وسلط الله عليهم بعد رحمة الأنبياء قسوة الملوك الجبارين،يظلمونهمويسفكون دمائهم، وسلط الله أعدائهم عليهم ومكن لهم منرقابهموأموالهم.

وكان معهم تابوت الميثاق. وهو تابوت يضم بقية مما ترك موسىوهارون،ويقال إن هذا التابوت كان يضم ما بقي من ألواح التوراة التيأنزلت علىموسى ونجت من يد الزمان. وكان لهذا التابوت بركة تمتد إلىحياتهموحروبهم، فكان وجود التابوت بينهم في الحرب، يمدهم بالسكينةوالثبات،ويدفعهم إلى النصر، فلما ظلموا أنفسهم ورفعت التوراة منقلوبهم لم يعدهناك معنى لبقاء نسختها معهم، وهكذا ضاع منهم تابوتالعهد، وضاع فيحرب من حروبهم التي هزموا فيها.

وساءت أحوال بني إسرائيل بسبب ذنوبهم وتعنتهم وظلمهم لأنفسهم.ومرتسنوات وسنوات. واشتدت الحاجة إلى ظهور نبي ينتشلهم من الوهدةالسحيقةالتي أوصلتهم إليها فواجع الآثام وكبائر الخطايا
