This app is a guide along the historicTalyllyn Railway line together with walks in the area. We hope youwill come and visit our historic, steam-operated railway and enjoymeeting the friendly volunteer staff. The line runs for seven and aquarter miles (11.8 km) through the beautiful and unchanging Fathewvalley. Built on a gauge of 2 feet 3 inches, the Talyllyn Railwayis one of a number of narrow-gauge lines in north and mid Walesbuilt in the 19th century to carry slate, in the Talyllyn's casefrom the Bryn Eglwys quarries near Abergynolwyn. Opened in 1865,the line runs the seven and a quarter miles from Tywyn (on theCardigan Bay coast) to Nant Gwernol, from where a series ofhorse-drawn tramways continued into the mountains.Please Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background candramatically decrease battery life.

A guided trail around the market town ofLlanidloes, in mid Wales, highlighting the sacrifice made byfamilies in the town during World War One. The trail gives detailsof the war experience of men from Llanidloes, many of whom paid theultimate sactifice and whose names are recorded on the war memorialat the start of the trail. By linking the names on the memorial tothe places where the men lived, worked and socialised, the trailbrings them back to life and reconnects the present to a pastLlanidloes that is in danger of slipping out of memory.
