Description

No root required. Free and contains no Adware. Does not connecttothe internet. In our continued effort to make this workwithKitKat, we have had mixed results. So, if you are runningKitKat,it may or may not work for you until I get time toinvestigate theissues with some phones. But, it's a free app withno ads and worksfor most people. Please provide feedback to thedeveloper ratherthan giving a low rating so that I can fix whateveris wrong. Alsofeel free to suggest improvements. Thank you. It ispossible toforensically extract information from a smart phoneusing mobileforensic tools such as Cellebrite and XRY even after ithas beendeleted. This utility can help to prevent that fromhappening bysanitizing the free space on a phone. Similarfunctionality can befound on desktop machines using utilities likeCCleaner, Eraser, and File Shredder. If you are afraid of thegovernment peeking atyour phone and extracting and reconstructingdeleted files, this isthe app that you want. This application doesnot delete files orclean the cache. Use other tools to delete filesand clean thecache. Then use this utility to sanitize the freespace. Althoughwe cannot guarantee that all free space will besanitized, thisapplication finds all of the free space that Androidwill give usin three primary areas where data is normally storedand overwritesit as completely as the phone will allow: 1. System -This is theprotected data area shared by all applications. 2. SDCard - Onsome phones this is the actual SD Card and on others it isemulatedSD Card space. 3. Optional SD Card - On some phones this istheactual SD Card and many other phones do not have thisspace.Samsung phones typically put the real external SD Card here.To runthe application: 1. Make sure that the phone has goodbattery/wallpower. 2. Put a checkmark next to the sections ofmemory tosanitize. 3. Press the Start Wiping button. 4. Do not usethe phonewhile the application is working. The status area willindicate howthe process is going. Some have complained that after awipe, theysometimes still see old files that were deleted usingother apps.In my investigation I have found that the overwhelmingmajority offiles are overwritten but occassionally one file is leftintact. Also, sometimes you have thumbnail files of pictures in adatabaseand you need to delete that file as well before runningSecure WipeAndroid does not always allow us to write to every freesector.Watch the statistics as it is overwriting to see if the freespacecount goes to 0 as it is writing. Also run the app more thanonceto get more thorough wiping since SD cards rotate their sectorsinand out of service. Many SD cards rotate blocks of memory inandout of use for wear leveling. As a result, it is possiblethatafter sanitizing memory there could be some blocks that getrotatedback in to use that were never sanitized. To mitigatethispossibility, run this application twice which statisticallywillusually hit all blocks of memory. This application has notbeentested on all phones. Please provide feedback to thedeveloperabout any problems. It has been found to work on SamsungGalaxy S2,S3, S4 and Victory phones, the HTC Arrive and others.System spacetakes several minutes to sanitize and 8GB SD Cards cantake up tohalf an hour. If the application is aborted before itfinishes, there may be large files left on the phone. If thishappens, simplyreboot the phone and bring the application up and itwillautomatically look for these files and delete them at startup.
