한국고유의 전통문화가 살아 숨쉬는 ‘한국 정신문화의 수도’ 안동에서는 문화체육관광부가 3년 연속 대한민국대표축제로선정한 이 탈춤공원과 하회마을 등 안동 시내 일원에서 9월 25일부터 10월 4일까지 개최된다. 안동문화는시대별로편중되지 않고, 종교적으로 편향되지 않은 다양한 문화들이 온전히 전승되어 온 지역이다. 그래서 한국에서 가장많은문화재를 보유한 지역이기도 하며, 동시에 동양의 미학을 고스란히 드러내는 곳이기도 하다. 유형적 자산뿐만아니라무형문화재도 많아 남성대동놀이인 차전놀이, 여성대동놀이인 놋다리밟기, 화전싸움, 저전논메기 소리, 내방가사,행상소리 등다양하게 전승된다.
