Description

This app was developed as part of a jointproject of DiMIE - University of Basilicata and BasilicataInnovazione (http://www.basilicatainnovazione.it/). Theproject, called Ardomotica, was aimed at developing a generalframework for the remote control of Arduino-based domoticappliances.

Arduino-equipped devices can be controlled via Internet usingthe popular PubNub cloud-messaging infrastructure (http://www.pubnub.com/), and through the localWiFi network. Commands can be used to activate Arduino-controlledoutputs, or read Arduino sensors, and may be executed immediatelyor delayed using a timer.

The framework is composed of three main layers:

- the Arduino microprogramming logic, that handles commands andgenerates answers
- two middleware libraries that abstract the generation andexecution of commands (in Java and iOS)
- client apps to actually run the commands, in Java for thedesktop, Android, and iOS

Client apps were developed with reference to a case of study incollaboration with GEMI Elettronica (http://www.gemimarket.it/) and refer to thecontrol of a chimney extractor fan with 6 velocities.
