بقلاوة صنف من الحلويات موجود في العديد من المطابخالعربيةوالآسيوية، كبلاد الشام والمغاربية والتركية وجنوب الآسيويةإضافةًإلى البلقانية. تصنع البقلاوة من رقائق عجين خاص وتُحشى بالجوزأوالفستق الحلبي ويتم تحلِيَتِها بالقطّر أو العسل . و كلمةبقلاوةمُشتقة من اللغة التركية العثمانية. وتُستخدم في كثير من اللغاتمعإختلاف طفيف باللفظ والكتابة. وقد دخلت الكلمة اللغة الإنجليزيةسنة1650. التسمية العربية جاءت مُشتقة من أصلها التركي. لكن حَسبقاموسهانز فير فإن التأثيل الشعبي لكلِمة بقلاوة العربية جاءت منكلمةبقوليات، بسبب إستِخدام الفول السوداني بصُنع هذه الحلوى.
قطايف من أشهر الحلويّات العربيّة الشعبيّة التقليديّة في شهررمضانالمبارك، فهي تعتبر من طقوس هذا الشهر الفضيل، ويتمّ تناولهابعد وجبةالإفطار وعلى السحور كذلك، وهي من الحلويّات المحبّبةوالمميّزة، وهيعبارة عن فطيرة مكوّنة من عجينة سائلة، يتمّ تناولهامحشوّةبالمكسّرات، أو القشطة، أو الجبنة ويتمّ تحميرها أو قليهاويمكنتناولها نيئة، فهي في جميع حالاتها لذيذة وشهية. لم يُعرف الأصلبعد فيتحضير القطايف فبعض الروايات تقول أنّها تعود للعصر العباسيّومنهم منيقول الأمويّ والدمشقيّ، ويقال أنّ أول من تناول القطايف هوالخليفةالأمويّ سليمان بن عبد الملك سنة (98هجري) في رمضان. وهناكالعديد منالرويات حول تسمية القطايف بهذا الاسم، حيث إنّ هذه الروايةتعود للعصرالفاطميّ، حيث إنّ الطهاة كانوا يتنافسون في تحضير أنواعالحلويّات فيالشهر الفضيل، وكانت فطيرة القطايف من ضمن هذهالحلويّات، وتمّ تحضيرهابشكل جميل ومزيّنة بالمكسّرات ومقدّمة بطبقكبير، وكان الضيوفيتقاطفونها بشدّة للذّتها لذا أُطلق عليها هذاالاسم.
