The Pagani Huayra (pronounced: wai-rah) is an Italianmid-enginedsports car produced by Pagani. Succeeding the company'spreviousoffering, the Zonda, it will cost £849,000 ($1,300,000).It is namedafter Huayra-tata, which means "God of the winds" inQuechua, theofficial language of the Inca Empire. The Huayra wasnamed "TheHypercar of the Year 2012" by Top Gear magazine andreceived a verypositive review when tested by Richard Hammond onTop Gear. TheHuayra is currently the fastest road-legal andstreetworthy car everto go round the Top Gear Test Track, settinga time of 1 minute 13.8seconds on street legal, Zonda R-derivedTrofeo tires, beating theprevious record of 1 minute 15.1 secondsset by the Ariel Atom V8 inJanuary of 2011, becoming the first carto record a lap time below75 seconds and not be removed from theboard.

The Huayra uses a twin-turbo Mercedes-AMG 60° V-12 engine.TheHuayra's 6.0-litre engine, the M158, produces 730 metrichorsepower(720 bhp)(539 kW) and 1,000 N·m (740 lb·ft) of torque.Its topspeed is about 231 mph (372 km/h) and it has a 0–60 milesper hour(0–97 km/h) time of 3.3 seconds. Using Pirelli tires, thePaganiHuayra is capable of withstanding 1.66 g of lateralacceleration atspeeds of up to 230 mph (370 km/h).
The Pagani Huayra uses a seven-speed sequential gearbox and asingledisc clutch. The choice not to use a dual-clutch in oil bathwasbecause it would lead to an increase in weight of over 70 kg(154lb), negating the advantage of the ability of suchtransmissions tochange gears faster. As a result, the entiretransmission of thePagani Huayra weighs 96 kg (210 lb).
The car is equipped with bespoke Brembo brake calipers, rotorsandpads. The calipers are 6-piston in front and 4-piston in therear.The rotors are drilled carbon ceramic, 380 mm (15.0 in) indiameterand 34 mm (1.3 in) thick.There are also four independentflapswhich can act as air brakes or produce downforce.
