Description

OneCampus was inspired by the disparateandineffective social media networks used by theNorthwesternUniversity student body. We noticed that there was avariety oftasks which students tried to use existing networks tocomplete.

As of now, OneCampus is geared towards a variety ofcampusactivities, tasks, and transactions, including cabsharing,buying/selling, lost/found, campus events, mutualinterests, andsports. The application’s core is comprised ofuser-created“items,” divided by category, which lists the relevantinformationfor the activity and the item’s creator’s contactinformation. Forexample, if an individual wishes to find a game ofpick-up indoorsoccer, he or she can search the Sports category,RSVP to an event, and contact the item’s creator through his or her.edu emailaddress or by text message.

Social, practical, and professional, users’ activities arelinkedto their .edu email addresses, creating a strong incentiveforrespectful and positive behavior while easilyestablishingproductive and enjoyable connections withfellowundergraduates.

The app is divided into six categories namely sports, cabshare, student organizations, lost, found, buy, sell, andsharedinterests. Users can create and view events in any ofthesecategories. They are easy on the eye, color-coded, and havetheirown unique icon. All of them have a similar basic layout tocreatean event and contain similar text fields; title, shortdescription, date, start time, end time are compulsory fields.

The user can also input up to three searchable tagswhichdescribe the event, making searching events easier. Categorieslikecab share, lost and found, buy and sell and cab share haveslightlydifferent input fields. Cab share has pick up location, destinationand time. Lost and found has place where it was foundand time. Thesell page has an option to input pictures and a pricerange

The Explore page which shows all the events in the next 7days.So if someone wants to try out something new, they canscrollthrough events in all the five categories and find coolevents toattend. The notifications page is divided into eventscreated andevents attending. This will give the user a notificationevery timechanges are made to an event they are attending to keepthemupdated and will also give notification to the user whensomeoneRSVPs to an event they have created. The app has pushnotificationswhich can be turned off if the user wants to. Theprofile page hasa short bio about the user, .edu address, photo, and mobile phonenumber, which is optional. The profile page alsoshows all therecent events the the user is attending so he or shecan keep atrack of the events.

The advantage of our design is the modularity of thecategories.Following future development, additional features may beadded ortaken away. Data and research can drive the development ofevenbetter designs, layouts, and functionality without affectingtherest of the application. User feedback will be very helpfulinmaking an ever better experience.
