Wild beaches are beaches which do nothavelifeguards or trappings of modernity nearby, such as resortsandhotels. They are sometimes called undeclared, undevelopedorundiscovered beaches. Wild beaches can be valued fortheiruntouched beauty and preserved nature. They are most commonlyfoundin less developed areas including, for example, parts ofPuertoRico, the Dominican Republic, Thailand, the Philippines,andIndonesia.

Bangladesh is the home of the world's longest natural sandyseabeach, located at Cox's Bazar. Beaches typically occur inareasalong the coast where wave or current action deposits andreworkssediments.

Some beaches are artificial; they are either permanentortemporary (For examples see Monaco, Paris, Copenhagen,Rotterdam,Nottingham, Toronto, Hong Kong and Singapore, andTianjin). Somebeaches in Hawaii are not man made and are called"black sandbeaches". The beaches have no white sand; all thebeaches consistsof only black sand.

Another approach involves so-called urbanbeaches, aform of public park becoming common in large cities.Urban beachesattempt to mimic natural beaches with fountains thatimitate surfand mask city noises, and in some cases can be used asa playpark.
