হযরত মোহাম্মদ (সঃ) ইসলামেরকেন্দ্রীয়ব্যক্তিত্ব এবং আল্লাহ কর্তৃক প্রেরিত সর্বশেষ নবী ( আরবিভাষায়:النبي আন-নাবিয়্যু) তথা "বার্তাবাহক" (আরবি: الرسول আর-রাসুল)যাঁরউপর আল কুরআন অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে।

তার উত্তম চরিত্র ও সদাচরণের কারণে পরিচিত মহলের সবাইতাকে"আল-আমিন" (আরবি : الامين, অর্থ : "বিশ্বস্ত,বিশ্বাসযোগ্য,আস্থাভাজন") "আল-সিদ্দিক" (অর্থ : "সত্যবাদীl") বলেসম্বোধনকরতেন।

হযরত মোহাম্মদ (সঃ) মদিনার সকল গোত্রকে নিয়ে ঐতিহাসিক মদিনাসনদস্বাক্ষর করেন যা পৃথিবীর ইতিহাসে সর্বপ্রথম সংবিধান হিসেবেচিহ্নিতহয়ে আছে।

বিদায় হজ্জের ভাষণ ১০ম হিজরিতে অর্থাৎ ৬৩২ খ্রিস্টাব্দেহজ্জপালনকালে আরাফাতের ময়দানে ইসলাম ধর্মের শেষ রাসুল মুহাম্মাদ(স:)কর্তৃক প্রদত্ত খুৎবা বা ভাষণ। হজ্জ্বের দ্বিতীয় দিনে আরাফাতেরমাঠেঅবস্থানকালে অনুচ্চ জাবাল-এ-রাহমাত টিলার শীর্ষে দাঁড়িয়েউপস্থিতসমবেত মুসলমানদের উদ্দেশ্যে তিনি এই ভাষণ দিয়েছিলেন।মুহাম্মাদেরজীবিতকালে এটা শেষ ভাষণ ছিলো, তাই সচরাচর এটিকে বিদায়খুৎবা বলেআখ্যায়িত করা হয়ে থাকে। ইসলামের প্রকৃত মূল্যবোধঅনুযায়ীমুসলমানদের করণীয় সম্পর্কে এই ভাষণে চূড়ান্ত দিকনির্দেশনাছিলো।হযরত মুহাম্মাদ (সঃ)-এর বানীর হাদীস বিষয়ক প্রধান ছয়টি গ্রন্থআছেএবং প্রধান গ্রন্থ হছে বুখারী শরীফ ।
