About The Book The traditional Indian system of recording thechronology of ancient times in the Puranas was unfortunatelydiscontinued after the Gupta period and consequently, the exactepochs of certain eras faded away from the minds and lives of thepeople by the 10th-11th century leading to a number ofinconsistencies in the chronology of ancient India. Takingadvantage of these inconsistencies, Western historians and theirblind followers completely distorted the chronology and concoctedmany false theories to take modern Indian historical research inthe direction that suited their biased purposes. About The AuthorVedveer Arya is a civil servant; an officer of the 1997 batch ofthe Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), he is presently theDirector (Finance) for the Agni, Area Defence missile programmesand other tactical missile programmes in the DRDO, Ministry ofDefence, at Hyderabad. Initiated into the learning of Sanskrit at avery young age, he specialised in Paninian grammar including theMahabhashya of Patanjali. He completed his Master’s degree inSanskrit from the University of Delhi in 1994, winning the Dr.Radhakrishnan and CD Deshmukh memorial Gold medals in the process.His deep interest in the ancient heritage and history of Indiapropelled him to become a researcher and reader of various ancientinscriptions in the original. The present research work is based onhis in-depth inscriptional studies. He has also extensively workedon the scientific contributions of ancient India and published hisfirst book entitled “Indian Contributions to Mathematics andAstronomy” in 2014.
