The app, developed in partnership with the Yellowstone ParkFoundation, provides information on what to do and see in theoutdoors -- hiking, camping, fishing, picnicking, historical sites,geological marvels, and more.

Where’s Kepler Cascade? How long is the Cache Creek Trail? What’sTravertine? How do I get to the nearest flyshop? What’s there to doin Cody? Yellowstone Outdoors provides an interactive map andinformation on these and more than 1,500 other attractions,activities, and services in the Greater Yellowstone Region ofIdaho, Montana, and Wyoming.

As its name suggests, Yellowstone Outdoors presents the outdooropportunities of the region through an interactive platform thatboth orients the user by their current location and by acomprehensive listing of a wide range of outdoor attractions andrelated services. Yellowstone Outdoors combines countless websites,dozens of maps, and stacks of travel publications, and localknowledge into a single easy-to-use app.

A visitor traveling to Yellowstone National Park from BozemanMontana, Cody Wyoming, or Idaho Falls Idaho can visualize thecoming opportunities as they approach – be it history or geology,hiking trails, museums, or whitewater rafting. The user can searchfor specific attractions or simply look for what’s coming up nexton the map. Anxious for a spot to enjoy a picnic or get out for ahike? Not sure what Big Springs or the Sheepeater Cliffs are, theapp shows pictures and describes the attractions, and hundredsmore. Need a fishing license or a can of bear spray, find thenearest flyshop or sporting goods store, relative to yourlocation.

Yellowstone Outdoors is intended for outdoor enthusiasts of allkinds; those who love adventure, those who are casual travelers,and those who want a “virtual tour” from the comfort of theircouch. Available for smart phones and tablets.

A note about maps: the app uses two types of maps, online andoffline. When there is a data connection available, users canselect “Map Type” to choose from one of the map layers provided byGoogle Maps (normal, terrain, or satellite). For those areas wherethere is no data connection available, an offline map is pre-loadedinto the app allowing the app to function. The app download size islarge due to the fact that the maps required for an area asexpansive as the Yellowstone Region require a fair amount ofspace.
